I AM UNDONE Vol. 4 will present the following artists:
Helene Duckert (NO) is a multidisciplinary artist, writer and art mediator, educated from OsloMet (BA 2012) and Oslo National Academy of the Arts (BFA 2016, MFA 2018). As an archaeologist examines the remains of the last great civilisation, Duckert searches for connections between humans and its possessions. With small means and shifting subtle and disturbing humor, the irrepressible left-overs are transformed into meaning-bearing artifacts that put their finger on contemporary life in an increasingly globalized world. Duckert's installations offer a visual archive of leftovers and discarded material from her life and surroundings, providing a commentary on contemporary ups and downs.
For I AM UNDONE Duckert will present the hyperlink text “In Case of Emergency - Fritt etter internett” that she created being part of an ongoing archive project curated by Kunstnerforbundet.
Composer and clarinetist Elena Perales Andreu, composer and percussionist Luis Fernando Amaya and designer Ana Maria Bermúdez are currently exploring their first collaborative project. From diverse cultural (Spain, México, Puerto Rico) and disciplinary backgrounds, they align on an interest in exploring the intersection between literature, music, and visual arts. Another common interest is the intersection of ecology, collective memory, and artistic practices, which the collective will explore centered around implausible musical instruments and the fictional cultures that play them.
“Inner / Outer” is a creative research project that serves as an expression of our own Scandinavian influences and experiences as Spanish-speaking artists. The project entails the collective creation of six audiovisual compositions inspired by short stories by Latin American and Scandinavian writers. At I AM UNDONE, they are presenting three in-progress versions of works by Juan Rulfo, María Luis Bombal and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson.
Heine Avdal and Yukiko Shinozaki (NO/JP) are both choreographers and performers. Their work is concerned with “performativity” and allows for an open interpretation of movement as a heterogeneous combination of a variety of media. Consequently, they draw on a broad range of disciplines and expertise. The artists create projects in both theatrical and non-theatrical environments and spaces such as offices, hotels, supermarkets, etc. Through interaction with those familiar spaces and by treating them slightly differently, they suggest to rethink the notion of the everyday itself.
For I AM UNDONE, Avdal og Shinozaki will present a sketch from the piece “until” which they are currently working on. The sound designer Johann Loiseau and the dancers, Andrea Barrett, Ingrid Haakstad, Lisa Colette Bysheim, Sigrid Marie Kittelsaa Vesaas, Trine Lise Moe are joining in the performance. “until" is a meditation on expectations, routines and colliding logics. Building and breaking patterns, dissecting the theatre in a speculative fabulation on what is, has been and can be. The premier of this piece will be at Dansens hus on 1 - 4 February 2024 with a collaboration with Black Box Theater.
Nadja Voorham (NL/SE) is an artist and performer interested in the social body and its performance, in relation to the gaze. In her work she aims for states of limbo. Nadja received her BA Fine Arts in 2012 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (NL) and her MA Contemporary Art Practice in 2017 at the Royal College of Art (UK). Her work has been presented at places such as Fraeme Projects (FR), Art Rotterdam (NL), Mimosa House (UK), Chisenhale Art Place (UK), Weld (SE) and Notafe festival (EE).
For I AM UNDONE Voorham will share her project “Turning of the neck” that explores the overwhelming relationship between audience and performer which results in a fever. The final piece will premiere in December 2024 at Weld, Stockholm.
