ENGLISH SUMMARY
Atelier Kunstnerforbundet has received Oslo Open’s Honorary Award 2022!
The award is given by the board of Oslo Open and aims to lift and honour those who contribute to improving the artists’ working situation – studios, production, and working conditions. The award was announced by the board of Oslo Open at the opening party, 22 April at Kunstnernes Hus.
The board’s motivation for giving the honorary award to Atelier Kunstnerforbundet is to honour the important choice to create a new studio programme within the framework of an established art institution. This is a well-known move, artists have for a long time combined exhibition spaces and studio collectives, and is recommended for others both within and outside the field of art. Well-known, but not overly used, so when an art instution of a one hundred year history makes this move, it calls for attention.
Kunstnerforbundet describes this as a "pioneer work within the dissemination of visual arts", no less. With a tailored development programme with mentors, councelling and follow-up of artistic practice, available funds for projects and travek, and external supervisors, and over two floors of 287 sqm, it probably is just so. Kunstnerforbundet prioritices the art and the artists – and the dissemination of this – such a move is without doubt in the spirit of Oslo Open!
